FCRA Information & Credit Inquiry Policy · Updated October 15, 2026
1. Scope
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) governs personal consumer reports. This page explains credit reporting information relevant when a personal report is considered in connection with financing. The treatment of a business-only report may differ.
2. Browsing and the financing finder
Browsing this website or using its financing finder, comparison tool, and document checklist does not request a credit report. These tools provide educational information and do not determine approval.
3. Applications and credit inquiries
A financing application is a separate process. The application and participating lender’s disclosures explain any consumer-report request and authorization. An initial inquiry or credit review may involve a soft or hard inquiry, depending on the lender and stage. Hard inquiries can affect a credit score. Ask which inquiry will occur before authorizing it. This page does not promise that every application has no credit impact.
4. Permissible purpose and authorization
Obtaining or using a consumer report requires a permissible purpose under the FCRA. Any required disclosures and authorizations must be addressed through the applicable application or lender process. Visiting this page alone does not authorize access to a consumer report.
5. Access, accuracy, and disputes
You may request your consumer credit file and dispute inaccurate or incomplete information with the credit reporting company and the company that furnished it. You also have rights relating to security freezes, fraud alerts, identity theft, and certain notices. State law may provide additional rights. Use the official resources below for the full details.
6. Notices when a report affects a decision
If adverse action is taken based on a consumer report, applicable FCRA notices identify the reporting agency and explain relevant rights, including how to obtain and dispute the report. The responsible decision-maker must provide the notices required for its action.
7. Questions about your application
For questions about an Abstract application or where to direct a credit-report inquiry, contact info@abstractcapital.com or 516-206-0395. Do not send Social Security numbers, account credentials, or full credit reports in a general email. A credit-file dispute should also be directed to the relevant reporting company and information furnisher.
8. Official consumer resources
This general disclosure does not replace application-specific authorizations, lender notices, or the full statutory rights summary.
